About me:
Nothing much to it. I'm an Electrical Engineer specializing in Controls and Automation. I've been married to my first and only wife since 1988. I have two grown sons that I could not be prouder of.I tinker with stuff. A lot. My wife calls my a Pathological Compulsive Fixer. She says if I see something broken, I cannot resist the urge to fix it. I denied that hotly, but she did mention that I once went out to my truck to get a screwdriver to fix the door-closer at the local IHOP. In my defense, it was letting the door slam closed and annoying the hell out of me, and it was a simple adjustment, not an actual repair. Such arguments fall on deaf ears with her, alas...
We enjoy camping and hanging out at our lake lot with friends, and motorcycle riding (2009 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, if you were curious). We are home-bodys, We travel occasionally, but I have turned down lucrative jobs because I don't want to move.
We live on the outskirts of St. Louis, and have all our lives. I'm kind of an odd duck for a St. Louisian, as I really don't follow the Cardinals. Oh sure, I get all exited come playoff time, but my sport is Hockey, and I hope to live long enough to see the Blues parade Lord Stanley's Cup down Market Street.
If you read this far, I will let you in on a secret even my wife don't know (and she probably never will because she never looks at this blog) In my heart yearns a writer that desperately wants to break out. This blog serves a dual purpose of letting me showcase my projects and letting me see if I have the chops to try writing in a more 'structured' environment. So far, nobody has thrown any dead fish at me, so I guess that's a good thing... I'm toying with starting another blog for more 'opinionated musings', so stay tuned.
Contact me:
As you can tell by my blog, I am a wordy SOB. I like talking about my projects, and answering questions people have. In order to keep from getting swamped with spammers, I don't publish my email address. I tried using a 'throw-away' address, but I keep forgetting to check it, so people get annoyed with me thinking I am ignoring them.If you would like to contact me directly. Leave a comment on this page with your email address. I moderate all comments, so it will not be posted publicly. I'll shoot you an email with my email addy and you can fire away with the questions.
Thanks!
I came across your cabin on Pinterest in a comments section of a pin. I really like the idea of a tiny house. I read almost every word of your cabin blog and finally realized we live in the same state after reading about your lot. I grew up camping in popups, then hard side campers, and finally my parents had an RV. We boated, skied, and fished. We always stayed at State Parks. I still camp occasionally; not as much as I'd like. Camping is a wonderful way to relax and forget the real world for the weekend. It was great to see what you can do with a private lot on a lake. Maybe this is what would work for us. I like your determination and your love of family and friends. Looking forward to the finished product.
